10 minutes into my birthday, I heard Patrick Swayze was dead! Patrick Swayze! I adored him so much when I was a child, I would watch Dirty Dancing on tape every morning, rewind it and play it again, the whole movie was burned into my brain for all eternity. I would get together with my cousin, who is the same age as me, and we would reenact scenes from the movie for hours. Johnny Castle, I thought he was so hot.

A few years after I wasn't so sure about it anymore, however, that is not the point. This movie was a big deal for girls my generation. Me and my best friend, whom I met at a time when we had other favourite movies, share the same favourite scenes, and Johnny Castle has been the subject of a lot of our private jokes. I don't know how many times we talked about dressing ourselves as characters in the movie, I always said I'd be Johnny Castle.
So Patrick Swayze will always be Johnny Castle for me, and for that maybe it kind of feels like Johnny Castle has died, he's Ghost now. Of course, Ghost was good too, and I quite loved it at the time, but I didn't have it on tape. Now I think I need to watch that movie again!
So I leave you with one of my favourite scenes from Dirty Dancing, the montage of Baby learning how to dance. Especially the part where her tennis shoes are replaced for silver heels, or the part where Baby is ticklish when Johnny brushes his hand under her arm. And all of Penny's amazing leotards and belts!

SHOP OPEN!
Finally! If you love me, and want to buy prints of my work, that is where you should do it. I still hardly believe anyone would want to buy these, but just thinking about the possibility makes me truly happy. Thank you for everyone who has supported me and all the wonderful feedback - without you these would be all dusty hidden away in some drawer.
